Notarization is the process whereby a Notary certifies a document. Usually this is done by attaching a notarial certificate to the document. The notarial certificate contains statements of fact or law in relation to the document being certified. 

An Electronic Notary or In-Person Electronic Notary is a commissioned notary public that is permitted to perform notarial acts electronically without the use of paper, but by state law the parties are required to be physically present. Electronic notary is often confused with remote notary, but it is important to keep in mind that they are different based on legal definitions. 

Yes! Florida authorizes its notaries to perform online notarizations pursuant to Fla. Stat. §§ 117.201 et seq.

In addition, Florida recognizes online notarizations that are properly performed by notaries of other states. The applicable interstate recognition laws are Fla. Stat. §§ 92.50, 695.03, & 90.902.

 In order to complete an online notarization in Florida, you'll need the following:

• An original, unsigned document (Don't sign it before uploading! You must sign with the notary public).
• A computer, iPhone, or Android phone with audio and video capabilities.
• A valid government–issued photo ID. Please see acceptable forms of identification for notarization.
• A U.S. social security number for secure identity verification.

In some cases, your recipient may require original signatures from all signers. In order to fulfill this requirement, you will need to meet with a notary over video chat to show ID and sign your documents.

After the session, you will mail the original documents to the address provided by your notary.
Once received, the document will be notarized and sent to your recipient.

 Acceptable forms of ID include the following photo IDs if valid and unexpired. Your state may have other allowable IDs or may exclude use of some items on this list, so always check:

– U.S. Passport Card
– Certificate of US citizenship
– Certificate of Naturalization
– Foreign Passport
– Alien Registration Card with Photo
– Military ID

Many transactions require more than just a notary and signer. If you’re signing a document that requires a witness, you’ll want to make sure you let us know before your appointment. Just reply to you confirmation email and we will make sure they have access to the session as well. 

 A protest is a certificate of dishonor under the hand and seal of a United States consul or vice consul or a notary public or other person authorized to certify dishonor by the law of the place where dishonor occurs. 

Protest is not required except upon dishonor of a draft that on its face appears to be either drawn or payable outside of the United States, its territories, and the District of Columbia. 

 Yes. The states that provide notaries public with the authority to protest instruments also prescribe the notarial procedures required to protest an instrument. Although some states permit notaries public to protest an instrument, such notarial procedures should only be performed by notaries who have expertise in such protests. The notaries in banking institutions generally are more familiar with the legal requirements regarding the protest of negotiable instruments.
